If you told me 5 years ago that I’d have the will to eat only fruits and herbs for 40 days straight, then would say to you go fuck yourself. A brotha gotta get his grub on LOL. However, at the time of being oblivious to the reality of health and years of putting bad food stuff in the body, including synthetic chemicals on the body turned out to be a no. One of the many reasons for adopting the vegan lifestyle was for health after understanding how acidic animals and byproducts are in the body, which explained the colds, flu, eczema challenges, and etc. It’s amazing how the body healed and how rare I get sick since November 2012. You may be wondering how one can catch a cold or have mucus challenges on a vegan diet. It could probably be linked to the comfort food, refined foods, or hybrid foods eaten in excess overtime. That’s another blog post for another day though lol.
Why did you go 40 days eating only fruits and herbs?
Many reasons ranging from experimentation to giving the body the proper nutrition it deserves. There’s so many nutrition information out there that misinforms people on what we should eat. So many people think protein is important and I used to be one of those people until finding out how too much of it wreaks serious havoc in the body. Especially when it comes from synthetic sources that isn’t natural to the body. It’s amazing how people want sources, credentials, and etc. It’s fair; however why do these same people believe in those with degrees and not open their minds to logical and/or practical thinking? For those still eating white or brown rice, I wrote a blog post about grain alternatives and someone didn’t take it serious because of no proof or sources. Lol, that’s cool, people learn best the hard way and that’s when a trip from memory lane will recall someone giving them the same info someone else in the present moment will give them.
On day 11, I started getting detox symptoms such as fatigue and light headedness. Poop had a lot of mucus, however didn’t smell much of anything. The crazy thing is that it confirmed that all the soy, bread, and rest of the vegan comfort food were sitting inside me. Those jerks lol. Free will and take full responsibility because it was my choice to eat them knowing it’s a no Bueno. Remember eating vegan mac and cheese with French fries and taco salad weeks before the fast. Every bite had a brotha weak. Like ohhhh snap, the energy is depleting and got me sleepy hahaha. Yet it tasted so mmmmmmmm. However, this fast really does help to build discipline. Temptation as you’re outside is strong because you smell cooked food everywhere and you’re like, “can a dude get some vegan pizza?” Your higher self is like “no fool, keep on eating alkaline plants and you’ll thank me later.” True story.
You’d be surprised how creative you’ll become trying to figure out what to eat. Fruits are awesome; however the variety of what to eat is important. To break it down in a simple manner, think of fruits, berries, and melons. If we think of those categories, then planning ahead is simple. They’re all fruits by the way. In the first category, I had food such as bell peppers, cucumber, eggplant, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, squash, papaya, avocado, bananas, apples, cherries, pears, mangoes and etc. If dinner wasn’t eaten bout a half hour ago, would soooooo eat a mango right now lmao. The types of berries I had was strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries. You know, a brotha would really love to have grapes, however haven’t found SEEDED grapes ggrrrrrrrrr. My bad, seems that I was typing outloud lol. Only melons that had a preference for were cantaloupe and honey dew.
In relation to herbs, they were either in smoothies, raw soup, or fruit combination. Yes, raw vegan soup is possible. Don’t know about you, however it shocked me that cold raw soup was possible. If you look at former vegan food porn posts, then you’ll see an example to what’s possible. Some of the herbs used during this period was sarsaparilla, maca root, cinnamon, chlorella, burdock, thyme, oregano, cayenne, moringa, brahmi, ginkgo biloba, and etc. Bladderwhack and seamoss helped for the mineral content.
The pooping was REAL. Papaya really was the fruit that really released a lot from within. It makes sense for its high fibrous content. You really would think that the length and mass of poop on this process wouldn’t be the way it was but you’d be in for a surprise should you decide to try something like this lol. Around day 18 or 20, I swear mucus only came out of me. It really made me wonder how all those vegan comfort foods really stay in your body for a long time, and then gets released when you eat the natural way of eating. It’s funny how life turns out.
Energy levels have been so high that I had to learn how to slow down to make sure my movements outside was average. Really felt like everything really enhanced. Waking up was refreshing, however in the beginning was a challenge to sleep because of extra energy. All in all, I will continue until 60 days are up. Will finish remained foods I have to be picked, then will probably stay fruit based the remainder of life just knowing my loco self.
Eat plants 😉
